Lady Jane ~ Playful Girl - 4yo Black/White Greyhound
LADY JANE
Lady Jane is a 4 year old greyhound lady who is now looking for her forever home. Though she grew up in training kennels, she never raced due to an injury she sustained early on in her career. Lady Jane is a beautiful black and white girl with big striking eyes. Sadly the photo does not do her proper justice. She currently has lots of kennel coat that is shedding out, but once that’s all gone she’s going to be a stunning girlie.
Lady Jane is a happy, playful girl who is a joy to be around. She loves romping offlead in the paddock with the other greyhounds and seems to really enjoy life. She is used to being around people and likes to soak up all the attention she can get. Lady Jane also travels well in the car and walks nicely on the lead.
Lady Jane gets on very well with our other greyhounds and causes no fuss. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds take a bit of socialisation work to realise smaller breeds are in fact dogs as they would never have seen them before.
Like most greyhounds, Lady Jane will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.
Lady Jane has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle and learn the house rules. It usually takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010**
The delightful Lady Jane is still waiting for her forever home. She is a lovely girl who is greatly enjoying all this sunny summer weather. She can often be found stretched out in the sun, soaking up the rays! She is sure to make a fantastic companion for the right family.
**UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2010**
Dear Lady Jane has now gone in to foster care to see how she copes with the home life. She had been finding kennels increasingly stressful which has resulted in some toileting issues that we hope will clear up now that she’s in a loving foster home.
We will update with her progress soon.
This pretty little girl is currently in a foster home in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in adopting Lady Jane, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application and information pack. Thanks!
