Scooby - GSD
Please meet super Scooby.
Scooby is a 5 year old german shepherd cross who really has had an awful life. Scooby was bought as a puppy and then was kept locked in a crate for 18 hours a day. When Scooby was just over a year old he was given away to a couple who by their own admission starved and beat him.
A third party saw what was happening to Scooby in his second home and he forcefully removed him from the home as he couldn't bear to see his suffering. Scoobys guardian angel nursed him back to health - his face was covered in cigarette burns, he was emaciated and he had a huge wound on his back which had been left untreated. Sadly for Scooby, his third owner could not keep him long term, but he had wanted to save him from a terrible situation and so he reluctantly took Scooby to a nearby rescue centre.
Scooby was rehomed to a couple but he quickly attached himself to his primary carer and they did not feel they had the knowledge or experience to cope and so after 36 hours they tried to return him to the rescue. The rescue refused to take him back or offer any help or support and so he was came to us at South East Dog Rescue.
Scooby has been with us for over a year and we have just given him the time and space he needs to heal and learn to trust again. Scooby spends his days running around with our other dogs and sleeps in a group of dogs at night. Scooby has really bonded with me and yet he hasn't shown any protective behaviour whilst being here.
We are looking for a home for Scooby with another dog/s and without cats. Although Scooby interacts well with adults and children here, we feel an adult only home would be best.
We are committed to finding great homes for all of our dogs and offer lifetime back up and support as well as having a resident behaviourist who is always on hand should new owners need her. We want to make the transition for Scooby into his new home as easy and stress free as possible so a consultation will be provided with our behaviourist with Scooby and his owners in his new home ongoing help and support will be given if needed.
