Pixie - Sheltie x Collie (Tyne & Wear) PixieComingSoon1
Pixie is a simply perfect 12-ish year old small Collie/Sheltie X girl who was rescued from a North West pound by a kind lady associate of the Oldies Club. Pixie would otherwise have been put to sleep. She is now in an Oldies Club foster home in Newcastle upon Tyne, waiting for someone to offer her a lovely new home.

Good in the home: Pixie settled very quickly, making herself at home from the moment she arrived. She is being left for a few hours most days and appears to be fine with this; she doesn’t bark, cry or chew. Pixie has been very clean in the home with not a single accident, even though she must have been stressed and confused when she first arrived, as she had had an unsettled few weeks.

Good with dogs: Pixie is currently living with an 8yr old border collie bitch and has not been any bother. She is not afraid to stand up for herself though and if her companion tries to do something Pixie doesn’t like (like pinch her dinner!) then she tells her, not in an aggressive manner, but in a firm one. She is great with all of the dogs she meets when out walking, and is quite keen to play with them, especially the ones of a similar size, but isn’t really fussed about their size as long as they are willing to play!

Seems good with cats: Pixie has seen a few cats and doesn’t appear interested in them, however, she has not had any close contact with them whilst in foster care.

Could live with children: Pixie hasn’t specifically been child-tested but she is a very loving dog. She is quite happy around adults and we have no reason to think that she couldn’t live with well-trained children!

Good in the car: Pixie is a good traveller and is happy either in a crate or on the back seat. She either sits up to see where she is going, or she has a snooze.

Enjoys walks and playing ball: She has plenty of energy for her age and is able to keep up with her current canine companion, although does have a good sleep afterwards. She likes playing ball and will bring it back to you to throw again. You would have to dictate how much she chases the ball as Pixie will just keep playing. She walks well both on and off lead and she has good recall.

Pixie’s favourite things: Food; People; Cuddles; Playing. Her foster carer says: Pixie loves cuddles and is a good eater. She is not a fussy eater and will eat whatever she is given.

Health notes: Pixie is vaccinated, microchipped and has been flea and worm treated. She has recently had a scale and polish and a cyst removed. We aren’t certain that Pixie has been spayed. If she comes into season after being rehomed the spay will need to be arranged by the adopters and the Oldies Club will pay for the spay.

Foster carer’s summary: Precious Pixie – she is a petite, pretty girl with a big heart; loves to have a cuddle and is quite a little character. She is extremely cute, especially when she’s waiting to get her collar put on and giving you a paw at the same time. She will make a fantastic little companion for some lucky person. She has had a tough few weeks but this hasn’t affected her fabulous personality – she really is a little star!!!!

Well, you can’t say fairer than that

If you can offer Pixie a permanent home, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656

Pixie can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet her.

We've been to a dog show today - I had an Oldies stall and lots of people loved Pixie, lots of interest in Oldies too. She was fantastic with everyone, loads of kids asked to stroke her and lots of people too - not phased at all. She came 2nd in waggiest wail so she (well, me) is the proud owner of a rosette and certificate. She's now snoozing happily on the sofa - bless her, she's such a fabulous little dog.

Olive she had about 6 enquiries in one day. A message has been put on the website asking for no more enquiries as Rehome will look through all the applications to find the most suitable home.
