Wonderful Womble - Rottie X (Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire)
This big handsome boy is Womble and he almost didn’t have a Christmas this year. He was in an overcrowded pound and at risk of being put to sleep. Fortunately, an Oldies Club fosterer came forward to help him and we managed to get him to his new foster home in Preston, Lancashire, just in time for Christmas. You can read more about him Here
Womble is about 7 years old and he’s thought to be a German Shepherd and Rottweiler cross. As you can see from his photos it didn’t take him long to settle in and he made the most of the Christmas festivities!
Womble is a big cuddly boy and his favourite pastimes are eating, snoozing and going for walks. He’s currently about 10kg overweight so he’s trying to do a little less of the eating and a bit more of the walking. He’d be happy in a fairly active home, although he’s not exactly super fast at the moment - the most he’s managed is a trot and that was when he saw a squirrel! This is probably due to him being overweight, so he’s going to need someone who can continue to work on his diet. He’s generally good on the lead, but can be strong if something takes his interest. He has good recall, but seems to respond better to men than women.
Womble is very good with cats and other dogs, but he would prefer quieter companions for his housemates. He’s a really friendly and cheeky boy and he loves being with people and wouldn’t mind living with older children (aged 7 years+). It would be great if he could find a home with someone who is around most of the day, although he doesn’t object to being left for a few hours at a time.
Womble is neutered, microchipped and flea and worm treated and his vaccinations have been started. He has a fatty lump on his back leg which is due to be removed before he’s rehomed.

Update from Womble
I’m very proud to let you all know that I’ve lost 3.5kg and I feel brand new! I love to go out for my walks and even enjoy a little run when I’m let off the lead.
I’ve been to the groomers recently too and my foster mum says I behaved like a perfect gent. I showed them a few tricks - I can “speak” and do a “high five” so my foster mum thinks I’m a very intelligent lad. She said something about me having the brains of a German Shepherd and the loyalty of a Rottie, but I’m just pleased I’m looking and feeling so much better.

I love Wombles big soft face. I keep coming back to read about him hoping his new owners have found him. Those smily pictures really do show he has a heart of gold.

Thanks Diane, but let me tell you he uses that big soft face to his best advantage

Womble's reserve has sadly fallen through. They have taken on a friend's dog instead.

oh no! poor Womble. Your forever home will come forward soon handsome.
Re: Wonderful Womble - Rottie X (Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire)
Womble is still looking. The lump on his leg has turned out to be cancerous so he will be having an operation to remove it. The vets seem to think its a localised type that wont spread.
