Pernod looking relaxed......

Pernod came to us yesterday looking a sorry soul but you could see straight away what a calm, friendly and loving girl she was.  She came straight in the house and instantly made herself at home and totally ignored the 3 other dogs.  She was wonderful on her first night and settled down with the other dogs and we never heard a peep out of her. She has had a couple of accidents in the house but I don't think it will be long before she is 100% clean.
Pernod is brilliant with my two sons and has really taken to the older one, she follows him everywhere and won't stop kissing him! She loves her food but seems to take her time, she should be quite easy to train as she loves treats and is eager to please.
Pernod gets excited when shown the lead but never jumps up. She walks really well and doesn't pull at all. We obviously haven't tested her recall yet as she's not too sure of her name. She really is a sweet lady and slomebody is going to be very lucky to have her.

UPDATE 1st July.
Pernod continues to thrive in the home environment and just loves being part of a family, we can't believe how affectionate she has become as she constantly wants to kiss every family member (dogs included!). She sleeps quietly on a duvet on the bedroom floor and as soon as the alarm goes off in the morning she rushes to the bed to say "good morning" - she's an absolute beauty!

UPDATE 6th July

Pernod returned my the vets last night feeling really sorry for herself, she had quite a few investigations and was spayed. She had chest x-rays and a few lumps removed from her stomach. Pernod also had to have 2 inches removed from the end of her tail, even though it looked ok it was ulcerated and the vet said she would have another infection if it wasn't removed. She also had blood tests and will return to the vets on Friday for the results and a check-up. Pernod is feeling much better today and is up and about and eating and drinking normally. Pernod keeps trying to lick her wounds and we can't get the "Elizabethan collar" to stay on her no matter what we do She also keeps chewing the dressing off her tail!

Besides going through the mill yesterday Pernod remains calm and affectionate. She's a lovely girl and we will make sure she receives plenty of rest and tlc in order to recover from her recent ordeals.

UPDATE 9th July
Pernod went to the vets for a check-up yesterday and the vet was very pleased with her progress, her wounds were clean and healing well.
As usual she behaved like a lady and remained calm throughout her visit. She will have to return on Monday for another check-up. We will hopefully get the results of the biopsy next week on the lumps Pernod had removed on Tuesday .
It's fantastic to see her personality coming out, she's started to play with a ball and chase my lurcher Missy around over the park. Today she followed Missy into the reservoir and went out of her depth, it was soooo funny when she realised she couldn't touch the bottom. Pernod panicky and lunged for the side, ran up the bank then sprinted up and down the reservoir like a dog posessed! She's brilliant with other dogs and seems to take every situation in her stride, she's a pleasure to walk. Pernod has also developed a little howl that sounds like she's singing everytime you put her lead on and tell her she's going out - it's sooooo cute (and funny! )
All in all we're loving having this gorgeous girl as a house guest, she will make some family very lucky indeed.
