Beth is undergoing her two week assessment and will be available for rehoming on Tuesday 14th June 2011.
Beth came to Four Paws along with her sister Jaz (was Jenny) from the pound in Monmouth, where they were unclaimed strays. She came into foster with us this evening, and this is what we have learned so far. We will of course update her thread with more information as we get to know each other better.
Beth is a beautiful, intelligent and loving little girl. While she is understandably a little nervous at the moment, she is settling well and exploring her new surroundings. She has eaten well and was very good while we bathed her. She is very friendly, and is particularly keen on my husband and son. While she is currently a little unsure of my two male Labradors, she is improving all the time and has climbed into bed with both of them already. Beth is very affectionate and loves to cuddle up to you for a belly scratch.
We have had no toileting accidents so far and Beth is showing all the signs of being a perfect companion for the right person/family who are able to provide her with the exercise and mental stimulation that she will require.
Update 03.06.11 Beth is a fantastic young pup who continues to thrive in a home/family environment. In the few days that she has been with us, we have been suprised at just how well mannered and well behaved she is. Beth has learned to walk quite well on a lead - fantastic news as she did not appear to have ever been on one before and was a little wary at first. She is super friendly and has today discovered that it is ice to give humans a little wash with her tongue! She is however still a 6 month old pup and as such displays puppy like behaviour at times i.e. will chew. However, as soon as she is told that this is not allowed, she will stop.
Update 11.06.11 Beth had her second vaccination yesterday and was an angel at the vets. Today, she came along to the Bargoed Carnival and was exceptionally well behaved as always! She had many new experiences i.e. thunder and hail, crowds, loud music, meeting lots of other dogs and children. She took everything in her stride and wasn't phased by anything. Everyone who met Beth fell instantly in love with her and no-one could believe that she is only 6 months old, as she is so gentle and calm. After the excitement of the Carnival, Beth had a little rest at home before we went for a nice long mountain walk where she went off lead again. She loves to chase my two Labradors and explore. We took a different route today and led them down to a shallow stream with small fallen trees across it. Beth loved this new game of running through the water, while leaping over the trees. Her recall tonight was excellent! She is now sleeping happily at my feet after her busy day. Hopefully she will soon have a forever family and home of her own. She can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet her. Please put in an application in the first instance if you are interested. Approved applications will be home checked. Details of our adoption procedures and adoption application form are here

What happened, why didn't they want her - she is gorgeous. I would have her like a shot if I didn't have Steve.....

The new family's dog died a few weeks ago, they realised the first night of having Beth that they weren't really ready for a new dog after all.
They were very apologetic and gave the fosterer a lovely bunch of flowers as an apology.
We fully understand their reasons so the lovely Beth is still looking.

Beth continues to be a little angel, although her house training is still a bit hit and miss. She loves human company and I think she would like a home where she could spend a lot of time with her people. She has been very good and welcomed our new foster dog, Hugo, into the home. I can't believe that she is still looking for her forever home. She is going to be the perfect addition to someone's family
