Dave - JRT X (High Wycombe, Bucks) DaveCute
Dave is simply the cutest little 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier Cross who came into our care after his family’s circumstances sadly changed. He is now in an Oldies Club foster home in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.

Introduction: Dave is proving to be a sweet little dog who is well-behaved and simply lovely to have around. He gets on well with dogs and children and enjoys his walks and playing ball.

Settled within 2 weeks: Dave was a little upset by the move to his foster home and cried for a few nights and had a few little stress-related accidents. But after a couple of weeks he seemed to have accepted the change and then settled well. He can happily be left for 4 or 5 hours.

Very good with dogs: Dave is very good with other dogs and was used to living with dogs in his previous home. He gets on well with the two resident dogs in his foster home, but he prefers the calmer dog and loves to cuddle up to him at night-time:

I like to snuggle up to my new friend

Not used to cats: Dave hasn’t lived with cats previously and he probably would try to chase them. His foster carer says “We have only seen one cat on our walks and he did speed up!!! And he likes to watch our rabbits!“.

Good with children: Dave seems fine with children but he would be best with children of 8+ years who understand that he sometimes needs quiet time.

Good on walks and in the car: Dave is very good on walks. He loves to go out and is well behaved when he meets other dogs. He trots along very nicely and keeps looking up to check you are still there. His recall is also very good. And Dave is well-behaved in the car too. So, he’s a pleasure to take out and about!

Dave’s favourite pastimes: Dave likes to play with toys and he loves having his tummy rubbed. He also loves to sit on the sofa on cushions:

I like my home comforts!

Dave’s perfect home: It would be nice for Dave to live with another calm dog as he does like company. He loves being around people too so a family or person that is not working full time would be good for Dave, however he is happy to be left for a few hours. Dave doesn’t seem to dislike or be frightened of anything in particular.

Health notes: Dave is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and he seems to be a pretty healthy little chap for his age. At his vet-check Dave was found to have some fatty lumps – a particularly large one is on his chest, and a largish one on his front leg. The vet isn’t concerned about them and wouldn’t do anything to them unless Dave had to have surgery for something else. His new owner will need to keep an eye on the front leg lump though as if it gets bigger it could affect his walking and so then would need to be removed. He has cataracts but these aren’t too bad, and he has some tartar build up on his teeth.

Foster carer’s summary of Dave: Loving; Happy; Friendly; Well behaved. Dave is a happy little chappy and gets on well with other dogs and people. He loves to give kisses and has not shown any signs of snapping or bad behaviour. He sometimes snarls at one of our dogs but that is when one is getting attention and the other isn’t! He really is a lovely boy and deserves a family home where he will be loved and given attention. He is always so pleased to see us if we have been out. He loves his walks and chasing a ball. Dave is an absolute pleasure to have around.

If you can offer Dave a permanent home, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656

He can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.
