Her thread is here http://forum.fourpawsanimalrescue.org.uk/index.php?topic=4000.0

Breed: ESS
Age: Approx 5 years
Dog Friendly: Is scared but would be really good to have a gentle, calm dog to show her the way
Cat Friendly: Not tested
Child Friendly: Not tested
Spayed:Yes
Vaccinated:Yes
Fostered near Oxford.

This is Erin when she first came into FPAR, be warned it's http://forum.fourpawsanimalrescue.org.uk/index.php?topic=3745.0 Crying1
This is Erin now Erin an ESS Fostered by Four Paws Animal Rescue (South Wales) Erin3

She has come a long way since the 1st photo but still has a very long way to go. She now shows signs of enjoying life but will really need a home where someone knows what they are doing with her. She needs things to be taken very much at a pace that she can cope with and have nothing but positive experiences. She is living indoors now and seems to be toilet trained. She will go out into the garden and back indoors again quite happily. She has started some clicker training and is being rewarded for toileting in the garden and looking at her foster carers, which is giving her confidence. She comes running when she hears the clicker for her treat. She is a sweet, gentle little girl, who needs a quiet, calm household so as not to scare her. She would probably also benefit from a gentle, calm dog as company and to show her the way of the world.

Sadly, she had hip dysplasia, with secondary degenerative joint disease. She is going to be started on Glucosamine and Chondroitin, which she will need for the rest of her life. She is also likely to need anti-inflammatories (Metacam or Rhimadyl) once she has started to move around more to control any pain. She will need her exercise to be built up gradually and to be walked little and often. No-one can tell how she will be in the future She may be perfectly OK with a sensible exercise programme, kept lean and medication for many years to come.

She can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet her.

Latest update from her foster mum
I am really pleased to say that Erin is settling in far quicker than we expected
She will now follow my 2 dogs out for a wee all by herself and will come to me when I call her in - she has started eating and is looking a lot more inquistive
We havent attempted a walk yet - but as soon as she feels completely comfortable with us around the home we will try

Erin has been here for a week now - and progress is slow - but we are definately making progress - she is now a lot more interested in us and will come for a fuss and even follow you to see what you are doing. She loves the garden - this is where she really comes alive We have yet to go for a lead-walk - but are working on this. She is a really gentle, pretty little girl - and is a dream to have around

A Final word from her foster mum - we were all a little emotional after all this girl has been through Crying1

You are all so very right - Erin is a very special girl and has done amazingly well so far - I know that this home is perfect for her and she will be so loved and have all the freedom to enjoy life that she deserves. She has fields to run free in, ponds to swim in (great for her hips - and as we know Springers love water!) - she will have two playmates to show her that life is not so scary - and a very special new mum and dad - that i know love her already
We couldnt have asked for a more perfect home for such a special girl - there is nothing there to scare her at all - and all the right ingredients to make her blossom into the confident, happy girl i have started to see glimpses of.
Jo did some amazing work with her in those first 4 and 1/2 months - and i have had the pleasure of her company for just 4 short weeks - but have loved every minute i have had with her - watching every small step she has made every day and feeling very proud of her.
I know she will take a few steps backwards to start with - but hopefully now that she has already lived in 2 loving homes - she has learned that not all people are scary - and will come around quite quickly (in comparison to when she first arrived with Jo).
I wish you all the luck in the world my beautiful girl - go and be happy in Springer paradise - and remember to tell us all about your lovely new life - if your not too busy enjoying being a proper Springer
Love you beautiful girl love1 bye1
