Yeats ~ Calm and Friendly – 4yo White/Black Greyhound
YEATS
Yeats is a 4 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. He was retired from the racing world after he sustained a leg injury, making him no longer fast enough to compete. The injury has completely healed, however, and he will be just fine for the family dog life.
Yeats is a gorgeous, leggy boy and is beautifully marked with black patches and Dalmatian-type spots on a white background. His coat is a bit dull and thin at the moment, but this will improve over the next few months now that he is on good quality food.
Yummy Yeats is a lovely mannered boy, loving and affectionate. He is appreciative of every bit of attention you give him and is in general a calm, relaxed boy. He is sure to do well in a family home with perhaps another hound to keep him company.
Yeats has been good with the other greyhounds in our kennels so far, and enjoys being out on his walks. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!
Yeats has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It usually takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience.
Like most greyhounds, Yeats will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
Yeats is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting the lovely Yeats, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!

Re: Yeats ~ Calm and Friendly – 4yo White/Black Greyhound
**UPDATE: OCTOBER 2010**
Gorgeous Yeats is still waiting to be adopted, but he is doing very well in our kennels. His coat is gradually improving and he is now losing his dull coat and getting a real soft sheen to his black patches.
Yeats continues to be a well behaved boy in the kennels and loves getting a fuss from his people.
**UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2010**
Yeats has now travelled across to the UK where she continues to wait for his forever sofa.
Yeats is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
