RAMBO

Rambo is a 2 year old greyhound boy who was not fast enough for the racetrack. He is a lovely big fawn boy with striking eyes and a soft coat.

Despite his tough-boy name, Rambo is a huge teddy bear of a dog and absolutey adores his cuddles. He is a very people-centric dog and really enjoys being around you. He has been treated well in his racing kennels and is very used to being handled.

Rambo likes to play and is just starting to discover what toys are for. He gets on very well with the other greyhounds in our kennels and hasn't caused any problems. He will need to be tested with small dogs, however, to see if he is safe with them. Often ex-racing greyhounds take a bit of work on socialising to realise smaller breeds are in fact dogs as they would never have seen them before. He has not yet been tested with cats but this can be carried out prior to adoption if needed.

Rambo is litter sister to Zola, another fawn greyhound in our kennels, and they make a beautiful pair. They can be homed together or separately.

Rambo has spent all his life so far in racing kennels, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding during the first couple of weeks and allow him time to get accustomed to the new home environment. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.

Like most greyhounds, Rambo will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs who are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also dont shed as much as other dog breeds such as retrievers or labradors, and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

This gorgeous lad is currently being kenneled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting the gorgeous Rambo, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption questionnaire which must be filled out prior to adoption. Thanks!

**UPDATE 08/2010**

Rambo is still waiting for his forever home, but is doing very well in kennels. He continues to love his play time romps in the paddock with his houndy friends, and is always up for some fun and games. He loves running after toys and always tries to get you to chase him. He is a very sociable dog and is going to make a fantastic pet for someone.
