Fabulous Flash - Whippet (Milton Keynes)
This gorgeous, sable coated boy is Flash, an 11 year old Whippet who is currently being cared for in an Oldies Club foster home while he is waiting to be offered that special, loving, permanent home.
At home: Flash takes a few days to settle and suffered some separation anxiety at first, but now that he has bonded with his foster family, he is fine to be left for 3 hours which could be built up. He needs kind, but firm, boundaries. He is house trained and will follow a regular routine, though he does not let you know when he wants to go out. He would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time as he loves company.
Good with older children: Flash would be fine living with children from 7 years upwards who know when to allow him some time to himself.
Good with dogs and cats: Flash is living with several other dogs at the moment and, although wary at first, he gets on well with them. He doesn’t show much interest in cats and should be fine with a careful introduction.
Out and about: Flash loves his walks and is very good on the lead, trotting along nicely and gently with good recall. He also behaves well in the car – he likes to stand up and look out of the window, but will lie down on long journeys.
Health notes: Flash is neutered, vaccinated, worm and flea treated. He has a few fatty lumps that the vet is not worried about. He also has a grade 2 heart murmur, but no treatment or medication is required. He behaves well at his visits to the vet who thought him to be much younger than his 11 years!
Flash’s foster carer sums him up:
I love him already! Flash is affectionate, very gentle, laid back and playful. He likes to jump up for a cuddle. He loves his walks and seems to be able to keep going and, although quite small, he easily keeps up with the other dogs. He will be really missed when he goes to his new home.
