Marvellous Merlin - Border Terrier (Blaenrhondda South Wales)
This is Merlin and isn’t he just adorable! He’s a 14 year old Border Terrier who arrived in Oldies Club care after his owner sadly passed away. He’s currently being cared for in a foster home in Blaerhondda, South Wales.
Merlin is a marvellous little fellow, he’s very gentle and easy going and has slotted into his foster home like he’s always been there. Apparently he’s very good at expressing himself with a variety of little whines and head tilts - what a cutie!
Merlin is great with children, but would appreciate a new home without little ones so he can have some quiet time. He’s used to living with cats and tries to play with those he shares his foster home with. He’s given a very waggy-tailed hello to the dog next door, so his foster mum thinks he’ll be fine with other dogs too.
Merlin is happy to be left alone for a couple of hours at a time and is very well behaved in the house. He’s frightened of very loud noises though, such as fireworks, so his foster mum is trying him with a DAP collar before bonfire night comes.
Merlin is well behaved when he travels in the car and will happily settle down on the back seat or in a crate. He sounds an ideal travelling companion.
He’s rather rotund at the moment and needs to lose a lot of weight, so he’s currently on a diet. He does like to play fetch with his toys though, so hopefully he will also work some of the weight off with a bit of exercise.
Merlin is going on holiday soon with his foster family and he’s promised to send us some holiday snaps, so watch this space!
He will be vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm-treated before he is rehomed, but following the vet’s advice he won’t be neutered due to his age.
If you can offer Merlin a new home, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:
Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656
Merlin can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.
