Holly ~ 2yr Old Friendly Greyhound Lass

HOLLY

Holly is a 2 year old greyhound girl. She has a gorgeous black and white coat that, once it gains some condition, will be a real eye catcher.

Holly was in heat when she came to us and is still a little shy. She is a gentle, quiet soul and will make a marvellous companion for the right person. We know that she will come out of her shell more once she settles in to her forever home and gets used to all the cuddles. Holly has not been tested with cats or small dogs yet, but this can be done prior to adoption if needed. She has not been outside of a kennel environment yet, so a settling in period will be needed when she first goes to her new home.

Sweet Holly is currently in kennels in Ireland, and can be transported to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This would be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. She is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and a home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.




**UPDATE 03/2010**

Holly has been with us for over 3 months now and her personality has completely transformed. Gone is the shy, timid little girl we first met. Holly is now a beautifully friendly, lively girl who greatly enjoys being out and about. She loves to feel the sun on her back and her favourite thing to do when outside is have a good roll around in the grass!

Holly gets on well with the other greyhounds here in the kennels, but is not cat friendly. She will make a lovely, rewarding family member and is dying to see the world outside of kennels.

Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation based in County Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England and operates through a network of volunteers. We can look after approximately 40 greyhounds at any one time, in Ireland and the UK.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA.

What a difference

**UPDATE 03/2010 #2**

Holly was lucky enough to be in a foster home for 2 weeks while she was recovering from her neutering. During this time she seemed to be having trouble working out what was 'hers' and was a bit grumpy about sharing her space/food etc with the other dogs in the house. As she had never been in a home environment before, we feel a large part of this was caused by stress and confusion from this complete lifestyle change. She was already showing signs of improvement towards the end of the 2 weeks and was starting to share her food more comfortably. When in a situation she's familiar with she was well behaved around the other dogs and didnt create any fuss in kennels.

Holly has now travelled to Norfolk, UK where she waits to be adopted. She needs an understanding owner who will provide clear guidelines on what she can and can't do in the home. With a little bit of work Holly will be a gorgeous, fun loving little member of the family.




**UPDATE 03/2010 #3**

Holly was tested recently with one of our volunteer's young children, and behaved very well around them. She loved all the attention and was very content to stand and be petted by the children. Due to her 'grumbly period' in her foster home, however, we would feel it best not to home her to a family with very young children, but a home with slightly older kids who are used to dogs would be ideal for her.

Holly is a pretty little girl with an unusual pink splotchy nose and faint dalmation spots all over her body.

**UPDATE 06/2010**

Holly has been in a foster home in Norfolk for the past 2 months, and is now very settled and well adjusted to home life. She is fully housetrained, non-destructive and ok to be left with other dogs for company.

Holly is a delight to have and an easy girl to keep happy. She likes nothing better than sunbathing on the lawn after her morning walk.

**UPDATE 07/2010**

Holly is doing very well in her foster home which she shares with a weimeraner x and another greyhound. Her fosterer has kindly written an update for her:

Holly is a small, pretty girl with a great big personality. She loves people and fuss and likes to be part of whatever you're doing. She's very bright and a little bit cheeky. Her favourite hobbies are moving shoes (generally she takes them outside and leaves them in the garden for you to fetch back!) and rolling around on her back on the grass. She also likes charging about with a tennis ball. In the house she settles very well on her bed and will happily sleep for hours. In fact , she is usually the last one out of bed every morning!



She is house trained, non-destructive and doesn't counter surf. She has been left quite happily with our dogs for up to 3-4 hours without any problems. Holly is still getting used to small dogs but is learning that they do come in lots of different shapes and sizes. She is a little bit bossy sometimes so would be best living with a laid back male dog (or two!).

Holly will be a lot of fun for her new family.

Holly is now adopted!
