Sky Cutie Pie - Border Collie (Leigh, Lancs) Skyoc

Sky is a playful 15 year old Border Collie who is in an Oldies Club foster home in Leigh, Lancashire. Sky came into our care after her owner died and Sky had spent some time in kennels whilst her owner's relatives tried to find her a rescue place.

It took Sky about 3 weeks to settle into her foster home properly and be happy, but she wasn't any trouble in those 3 weeks. Sky is fine to be left — her foster carer works and has someone call in to walk Sky at lunchtime — and Sky is no trouble at all. She has proved to be a loving, well-mannered girl.

Great with dogs, cats and children: Sky is not currently living with other dogs but any she meets out and about, she gets on great with. She especially likes trundling along with other older dogs on walks and loves it when she meets other dog walkers. Bless her little collie socks! She does sometimes grumble when an energetic puppy mithers too much, but that is understandable! She would be fine living with other dogs and would probably like that. Sky is living with two cats and she hardly notices them so is definitely fine to live with cats too. And, to complete her portfolio of social skills, Sky absolutely adores children and could live with children of any age (assuming sensible levels of supervision of course!).

Good on walks and in the car: Sky's foster carer tells us "Sky is absolutely perfect on the lead. She is also really good off the lead; she stays close by and just follows. A couple of time she has followed someone else instead and you have to go and get her, but I think that was just confusion and she is really good. Her back legs are a little bit stiff so she does need help in and out of the car, but she is absolutely fine when travelling."

Favourite pastimes: Sky loves playing with a tennis ball, going out for walks and eating treats. She also loves playing with children and getting lots of fuss and attention!

Sky's perfect home: Sky is a perfect dog and would fit into any family. Her perfect home would be one in which she gets plenty of attention and fuss and where there is someone to play ball with her. She also still loves her walks.

Sky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. She has been vet-checked and has no health problems, only the things that come with old age, such as her eyesight just not being as good as it once was and being a little bit stiff in her back legs until she gets going. Apart from that, the vet said she is fit for her age and a healthy weight.

Foster carer's final comment: "Sky really is a very well behaved dog and deserves to have plenty of love and attention".

Have Sky's collie charms melted your heart?
