Sophie - 4 year old Rough Coated Terrier - Dog and child friendly
Beautiful Sophie is a 4 year old Rough Coated Terrier looking for an active, loving forever home that has had experience with a terrier before. Sophie is a sweet girl who has been handed in as her elderly owner had to move into sheltered accommodation and couldn't take Sophie with her.
This lovely girl is a real sweet heart who is very affectionate and loves human contact and cuddles. Sophie is great with children and would be happy to live with them.
Sophie is also great with other dogs and now she has settled in her foster home, she loves playing with dogs of all sizes and cuddling up with the other dogs in her foster home.
Sophie is a very active girl and needs a home where she'll get good, regular walks. She'd also love to do some sort of dog class or activity if possible.
Because she has so much energy she will jump up when excited but with positively reinforced training, she is learning not to - this training will need to be continued in her forever home.
Sophie has been spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped. She is currently on foster in Kent but we home across the UK.

Re: Sophie - 4 year old Rough Coated Terrier - Dog and child friendly
Sophie has been in foster for a couple of days now and her foster mum says she is an absolute delight! One of the dogs in her foster home is a JRT who always wants to play and has hassled Sophie quite a lot but Sophie has been incredibly good with her and not even had a grumble at her! What a star
At a walk to the park she met all the other dogs very well too. She was on a longline but she never strayed, just stayed with the dogs in her foster mum. Sophie really loves her walks, she is a very very happy little girl with a truly lovely nature.
She is exceptionally good with the 9 year old in her foster home and to quote her fosterer - "[she is] one of the nicest dogs with children I have ever fostered".
This morning Sophie was barking at 5am at something in the garden, and her fosterer went out to find somebody had broken into her shed! Luckily only a few bits were taken - likely due to Sophie telling them off.
Sophie will make such a fantastic and loyal family pet to any active home. Can anyone offer Sophie a home?

Super Sophie is just perfect. Her fosterer took her for a walk in the park and let go of her long-line and Sophie was ever so good. She likes to walk a little way in front but constantly looked back to check her foster family was there. Despite not really needing to call her, her foster mum tried it anyway and though she doesn't actually come back, she stops and waits for you to catch up
She loved running about with the dogs from her foster home and met other dogs very well too. She is very polite and doesn't seek out other dogs to play with - She will ignore them if they ignore her

Sophie's foster mum took her out on her own today to see how she was without her fosterers own dogs. Her recall was brilliant - although she never strayed far enough for to warrant being called. She again, met other dogs well. A little fluff ball came up to her and started yapping - Sophie just looked at the fluff ball and walked away
She thinks she is a lapdog and gives proper cuddles - she sleeps with her arm wrapped over the child in her foster home. Her only fault, and this is very minor, is she is a massive bottom burper!

Sophie is doing really well. Here's what her foster mum has to say about her:
Her recall is much much better than I ever expected - but she does go 'deaf' when she's busy sniffing around in the garden.
She is a joy to watch over the park - she loves a good run but will not go far unless she's encouraged by us.
She does get very excited when we pick up her lead but so does our own dog. She tries her very best to sit and wait for her lead to be put on - but if we waited for her and our dog to be totally calm - we would never get out of the door!
She jumps happily in and out of the car.
She is great with other dogs as she hates confrontation - if one of my own dogs grumbles at her, she backs away. She play fights with my own dogs very well and hasn't ever taken it too far. She did get a little possessive over a pigs ear but a firm no stopped this. This was only with the other dogs - we can take anything from her with no problems at all.
Sophie is a family dog, she loves people and she likes the company of my other dogs. As I type this, she is fast asleep under a blanket with my 9 year old daughter and my JRT.
