Re: smileys not working
The only thing i can suggest is, i log on as you to see if the problem lies with your computer or not
Re: smileys not working
Everything working fine for me, as Julie says it's your computer, well OS that's to blame.
1] You can try Deleting the Forum Cookies, the option which appears on the listing of forums in the bottom right hand corner.
2] Run Ad-Aware or whatever malware prog you use
3] Do a Disk Cleanup
4] Do a System Restore
5] Run a full system scan of your computer with your Anti-Virus prog
6] Unplug your router or whatever internet connection you have - leave for 1 minute - then plug it back in.
7] Re-start your computer

Re: smileys not working
It won't even let me open the smilies box now.
It can't be my PC cos I can use smilies on another forum. I do not have any problems elsewhere on the internet.
I do a disc cleanup and defrag regularly and did one yesterday.
My router and PC get turned off every night.
I do regular full virus scans and if it was a virus I wouldn't just be having problems with only RAFA.
I have had problems with only RAFA before.
I am not doing system restore just cos this forum won't let me do things ... I don't know enough about it and I don't want to c*ck my pc up.
The only thing I haven't tried is Logging in again and the cookies ... which I will do in a minute.
Thank you Spooks for your suggestions .... when you do a disc cleanup .... do you delete the Temporary Internet Files and Off line webpages?

Re: smileys not working
I've logged in again and deleted cookies. Still no go.
Spooks .. the only thing I have on the page is an "Error on page" and yellow triangle with exclamation mark in it down in the left hand corner just above the "Start" button.
Do you know what that means?
Julie can you ask forumotion what they think is the problem?

Yup I do.
Doing a System Restore won't harm your computer at all. All it does is restore your computer to a date where it worked OK. You won't lose any files or documents, only things like new progs you have downloaded and Windows Updates. Sometimes Windows Updates will mess your PC up and I often have to do a Sys Restore to get it back to the last date it worked properly.
Glad you have got it working properly now.... you can breathe again
BTW what anti-virus programme do you use? Please, please don't say Norton!
Re: smileys not working
Norton ... you must be joking !! I used to have it cos it came with the computer years ago ... big numb thing it is .... and costs an enormous amount per year.
Got rid of it and tried Avira Free and it was so light on resources and easy and I never have any problems with it normally (famous last words) then changed to premium for twelve quid a year ... not sure whther the 12 quid is worth anything ... I looked at it at the time and thought it was for some reason.
I hate it when my PC isn't working properly ... it irritates me profoundly

Re: smileys not working
I have always used either AVG or AVAST [both free] together with Ad-Aware for malware.
Last few years it's been AVAST I've used, as it doesn't seem to slow my PC/laptop down so much as AVG and it's been very good with warnings about opening unsafe pages. It updates automatically and it's easy to set up.
