Billy - Poodle (Norfolk)
Billy is a 15 year old miniature poodle. His pedigree name is Pankington William, but close friends call him Billy. He came into Oldies Club care after his owner sadly died. Billy was in boarding kennels at the time and really wasn’t doing well there and seemed to be fading away. He’s now in an Oldies Club foster home in Norwich, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.
Settling in: Billy was very unwell when he arrived at his foster home and was also underweight. Despite this, he settled within two weeks. He is also happy to be left alone for a few hours. Due to the excellent care from his foster carers, Billy is now much better – see the health notes for details.
Good with dogs and cats: Billy is happy to play with the dogs in his foster home and he follows them around the garden. Sometimes he gets quite playful with them too. He has met a cat, a rabbit, ducks and chickens and just followed them until he got fed up. (The rabbit made him jump!)
Best in an adult-only home: Billy would probably find children too much for him. And due to having poor sight and hearing he sometimes snaps when he’s startled.
Likes short walks: Billy is good on the lead and he enjoys short walks in the woods and along the beach. He is best kept on a lead though as he is quite deaf and cannot hear you call him.
OK in the car: Billy was a little unsettled in the car at first and cried, but he is now happy as long as he can see where he is going.
Billy’s favourite pastimes: Sleeping on his bed; pottering around the garden; following his foster mum around the house.
Billy’s dislikes: Billy doesn’t like you taking his food or treats away from him (he will growl and snap at you).
Billy’s perfect home: Billy would like a quiet, adult-only home.
Health notes: Billy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. When he arrived he had a chest infection, kennel cough, and was very underweight. He has recovered and is gradually putting on weight after having frequent small meals. He has a fatty lump on his chest and his teeth are in poor condition, but the vet feels that due to him being quite frail, a general anaesthetic isn’t advisable, and the fatty lump isn’t causing Billy any problems. Billy has cataracts in both eyes and has very little sight, so he doesn’t like going out in the dark. He is receiving treatment for ear mites in one ear, and the other ear appears to have been operated on and is completely closed, so Billy is quite deaf. He does have eyes, but you can’t really see them on these photos! He’s booked in for a trim very soon.
This poor old lad has been through so much recently and he was fading away in kennels. Can you offer a special poodle boy his final home?

He can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.
