Dillon - Dalmation x Pointer (Wheathampstead, Herts)
This handsome face belongs to Dillon, a 9 year old Dalmation/Pointer cross, who is currently in the care of an Oldies Club foster home near St. Albans in Hertfordshire. He is looking for a home with a large garden and someone around most of the time who can give him lots of lovely walks!
At home: It took Dillon approximately a week to settle in and get his paws under the table. He does not particularly like to be left alone, but is well-behaved when left for short periods. He barks at postmen briefly, but not excessively, and can be easily distracted. Dillon appears to be fine with all children, although he would be better living with older children in the long term.
Out and about: Dillon walks very well on the lead to heel and also off lead fetching sticks, etc. He returns when called and knows all the usual commands. He sits on command whilst out walking to allow cyclists to pass and does not need to be held or leashed each time. He is a great “pack member” and waits to go through doors and gates before being invited to follow. Dillon also travels well in the car.
Dogs & cats: Dillon is excellent with other dogs and, although not currently living with a cat, he is believed to have lived with one in the past.
Dillon’s perfect home: He is an active dog and would love a home setting where, ideally, he can be with someone most of the time and where he can have long walks regularly. He likes to feel part of a pack and is very affectionate. Ideally, he also needs a large garden.
Health Notes: Dillon is very fit and in general good health. He had a lump which was biopsied and showed to be nothing more than a fatty tissue bump (lipoma). He is also neutered, vaccinated, wormed and flea-treated.
Foster family summary: Dillon is an absolutely fabulous dog! Excellent in temperament, good with kids and other humans generally and very good with other dogs. Above all, he is a very soft and affectionate dog who will more than repay the love, affection and good home that anyone cares to offer him. His favourite pastimes are walking and snuggling up in the evening by the fire. He is just a great family dog who enjoys human company. He is well-balanced, calm, friendly, intelligent, well-behaved and fun.
