Rowan - Collie X Springer (Cumbria)

Rowan is a rather beautiful 14 year old Collie X Springer Spaniel who arrived in Oldies Club care in sad circumstances. Her Dad had passed away and her Mum was unable to give her the care she needed. Rowan came into rescue with another Collie, Harvey, but because they have different requirements and do not seem to be bonded, we are rehoming them separately.

A week to settle in: It took Rowan about a week to feel completely settled in her foster home, which is near Tebay in Cumbria.

Can be left at home: Rowan is quite happy to be left home alone for reasonable periods of time, but she does like her home comforts so will need a comfy bed to snooze on whilst you are out.

Could live with other dogs: Rowan shares her foster home with Harvey, another Collie who came into rescue with her, but when she’s out and about Rowan tends to ignore most other dogs. She would be happy living with another dog in her new home provided they weren’t too boisterous around her.

Good with cats: Rowan is used to being around cats and used to live with five in her previous home.

Could live with older children: Although she’s a friendly and docile girl, Rowan likes a bit of peace and quiet so she would prefer either an adult-only home or one with older children who will respect her space.



Enjoys leisurely walks: Rowan is getting on in years, but she’s still quite agile and enjoys going for short leisurely walks. She’s good on the lead, but her recall isn’t great because she’s losing her hearing. She can still be let off-lead though because she doesn’t wander too far and is easy to catch up with.

Rowan’s favourite pastimes: As well as enjoying her walks, Rowan will chase a ball if it’s thrown only a short distance (her sight isn’t too great). She loves company and just being around her owner so wants to be in the same room as you and she’ll just find a comfy spot where she can snuggle down and snooze.



Rowan’s perfect home: Rowan’s ideal home would be a quiet one where she can enjoy her retirement. She’d like to spend quite a lot of time with her owner and have some comfy beds dotted around the house so that she could do plenty of lazing around. Rowan doesn’t need a lot of exercise, just a few short walks or a potter around the garden will be fine.

Foster carer’s summary: Gorgeous Rowan is described by her foster carer as lovable, docile, funny and a tad stubborn .. but we all get a little stubborn with old age don’t we.

Health notes: Rowan has no known health problems. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and has been flea and worm treated.

Why, are you after a friend for Gizmo Lou? Sounds like she is as cat-friendly as it's possible to be

Poor Rowan hasnt had any interest. We're planning on listing her as Old Dog of The Week shortly but struggling to find someone close by to take good photos of her. That should include an update on her sight and hearing so once I have the info will crosspost it.

Rowan's fosterer has decided to adopt her
