Cane - Labrador X (Lincolnshire)
Cane is a very handsome 11 year old black Labrador Cross who came into Oldies Club care as an urgent case when his owner had to leave and there was no-one to care for Cane. Cane is now in an Oldies Club foster home near Sleaford in Lincolnshire, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.
Cane is proving to be a fabulous dog who is friendly with everyone and everything he meets. He is simply a lovely, easy boy to have around. If Cane sounds like the family dog you are looking for, please read on…
Settled quickly: Cane settled in to his foster home with no problems. He spent the first couple of days investigating things and then he relaxed and started to make himself at home.
Happy to be left: Cane can be left for a reasonable amount of time and just settles down until you return. He is also very good at bedtime and goes off to his bed when its time.
Good with dogs: Cane is living with two dogs at his foster home and he has fitted in with them well. On walks, he has a sniff at dogs he meets but is not that interested in them. He would be fine to live with another dog or he would be equally happy on his own.
Excellent with cats: Cane has been excellent with his foster carer’s two cats and takes very little notice of them, unless there’s any left over cat food!!
Good with children: Cane has lived happily with children in the past. In his foster home he lives with children of 8 years upwards and he loves to play ball and chase with them. It’s actually a game of tug of war though because he hangs on to his ball for dear life!
Loves his walks: As well as loving his ball, Cane also loves his walks, and he is still very fit for his age. He does pull a bit, being eager to go, but the 11 year old child at his foster home can hold him with no problems. Cane is good off lead and loves a ball to chase and carry. He has been let off lead in safe places and he comes back when called.
Loves the car: Cane loves going in the car and is eager to get in. He is however quite vocal when travelling — this is due to him thinking it’s an exciting experience! He doesn’t get travel sick.
Cane loves…: His ball; His walk; Water – he particularly enjoys a splash in his foster carer’s pond after a walk if he gets the chance; Food – he’s a typical Labrador type; Reflections – he loves to watch reflections and can amuse himself for ages if they move.
Cane dislikes…: Nothing in particular. He is not anxious or nervous of things.
Cane’s perfect home: Cane would fit into most loving homes. He is a very easy dog to have around and is excellent in the house and when left. He just needs a nice walk, a play, and plenty of fuss and love.
Health notes: Cane is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm treated. He sometimes shows signs of a slight limp and the vet has suggested a daily glucosamine tablet, which he now has. He is otherwise very fit and healthy. The vet was very pleased with his teeth and commented on how good they are.
Foster carer’s summary: “Cane is a handsome, cuddly, fun-loving and charming boy who will bring fun and happiness to his new home. He will make someone a wonderful companion”.
