LADDY

Meet dear Laddy. This 4 year old ex-coursing boy came to us a bit run down and depressed in himself. He is doing well now, though, and has put on a good bit of weight. Laddy is a tall boy and has a lovely white and brindle coat. He’s going to be such a striking lad once he puts on a bit more condition and loses his dull kennel coat.

~ Personality ~
Laddy is a real gent of a hound and is very gentle. When he first came to us he was very quiet and withdrawn and didn’t show any interest in people. Now, however, he is coming on in leaps and bounds. Since moving out if kennels and into a loving foster home, he is fast learning that people can be trusted and can give great cuddles! Once he gets to know you he comes out of his shell and lets you see his beautifully affectionate character. It’s a joy to watch this boy open up.

~ Other Animals ~
Laddy loves other greyhounds and is sharing his foster home with Albie, another hound looking for his forever home. Albie is a confident, happy-go-lucky boy and Laddy has latched on to him. He follows his new best mate wherever he goes and is learning a lot about people and his surroundings through Albie. Because of this we feel that Laddy must go to a home with another dog already present to ‘show him the ropes’, so to speak. Laddy is a much happier, braver boy with a four legged friend at his side.
Laddy has met a few small dogs and has generally been ok with them. He would benefit from more practice and socialising around them, however, as he can still become a bit unsure or excitable when they run around. He is not cat friendly.

~ In the Home ~
Lovely Laddy is currently being fostered in outdoor kennels and is getting to experience the house on a gradual basis. New owners will need to be a bit patient at the start and give him time to settle into the new environment. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. This boy is definitely deserving of the home comforts after his long, hard working life.

~ Out and About ~
Laddy is still getting used to the outside world and can become a bit scared around very noisy machinery or vehicles. Once he learns to truly trust his people, however, we hope that this boy will gain in confidence and start to relax. Like most greyhounds, Laddy is a bit of a lazy boy and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week. Laddy will need someone very special to introduce him to the world, and it’s going to be such a rewarding experience to watch him blossom.

~ Where Am I? ~
Laddy is currently being kennelled in Ireland and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe when a suitable permanent or foster home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting him, he will be fostered in the Norfolk area.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Laddy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting Laddy, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!
