I know that many people have been following Anya’s amazing story – a link to her blog is here http://forum.fourpawsanimalrescue.org.uk/index.php?topic=5896.0 and contains info, pics and videos. We will be happy to discuss the specialist’s report and MRI scan results in detail with any prospective adopter. As far as we are aware, Anya's medical condition should not result in ongoing vets bills.
It was originally thought that because of Anya’s medical issues she would need to stay with Four Paws as a long term foster dog but she has done so well in the last 3 months, that we believe she is ready for her forever home.
Anya is a very special girl and will need a very special home and family. She needs:
One or more resident dogs – these will need to be calm and friendly but also like to play
Humans who are around for much of the time
A large-ish outdoor space as she loves to run around. This space will need to be safe, without lots of steps, water etc.
A family who whilst being aware of her medical conditions are brave enough to let her be a dog and not want to wrap her up in cotton wool – and I know how tempting that is.
Breed experience would be beneficial but isn’t essential
Be happy for Four Paws to keep in touch to follow Anya's progress
In return she will give you unconditional love and lots of laughter at her quirky little ways. She's a very happy girl who loves her life and has become confident, outgoing and sometimes a little bit stubborn as she's found her feet in foster. She's so affectionate, loves being cuddled and handled, has no problem with being brushed which is just as well given her long coat
To know Anya is to love her

We've nicknamed her the teddy bear since she looks so much like one with those ears

Re: Anya a very special Akita (X) fostered by Four Paws Animal Rescue (South Wales)
Anya and I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the lovely comments. She's been in foster with me for four months now and is doing so well. She loves running off lead over the fields, playing with my lab boy, her food and sleeping and is such an easy girl to have around.
She's been a little bit quiet for the last few days and sleeping a lot but today she's got back to normal and decided to redesign a dog bed
Anya's a beautiful girl, inside and out and I feel very luck to have her as a foster dog, she's made me laugh every day she's been here with her funny little ways and if she's rehomed they will be the luckiest family in the world.

She is a very beautiful girl & I'm hardly surprised her foster mum gave in to her charms but so glad she has a forever home now
