Unread post indications

Post by mole on Sun Feb 13, 2011 10:20 am

Is anybody else not getting the thread thingies on the left showing red when there are unread posts in that part of the forum?

This has been going wrong for me over the past few days .... shows at some points but disappears even when I stay online on the forum.

Mine works fine Kathy. Could someone else be viewing posts from the same IP address? Someone else at work for instance? Or if you have more than one window open, you need to keep the original window to look for things or sometimes it thinks it's a separate session.

No there's nobody here but me Crying1 .... actually yahoo1

Yes could be due to opening other windows and then going back to the RAFA one ... I've only noticed it in the last few days.

Will try and catch it out and see what I'm doing wrong hammer1

OK it's just done it on me Voodoo1

I have one window open for RAFA ... the one I'm in now. When I first came into it there was a red thingy showing for Urgent 7 days .... I went in and posted to this thread without looking at any other threads first.

Then when I went back to the Home page all the red thingys had gone Banghead1 so I now have to look at posts individually to see when they were posted.

Not to bad for me as i'm on here regular (although a right pain) but could affect other volunteers if it's happening to them who may miss threads that they could have helped with.

Mmm. What browser are you using? Does it kind of time out? and then have to reconnect? I often have 2 or more windows open at different Rafa threads. If I close them and open a new one (say from an email notification) then all reds are gone. Or if I close the first window and then check for un-reads through the 2nd window they've all gone. Just thinking out loud really.

I use Chrome but I haven't had a problem before last week.... there does seem to be some time out element in certain situations but don't know whether its the forum or the browser.

Yes I can see it happening when 2 or more RAFA threads open at same time but as I say I've not had a problem until recently.

Chrome has been very slow at times recently ... so will continue to monitor it. If nobody else is getting it must be something to do with my set up. Having said that forumotion does tend to throw anomalies with certain random members at times.

Try clearing your cookies.... they get clogged up sometimes.

Do you log out each time or stay logged on indefinitely so you get immediate access once you open RAFA?

It may be when I use the backspace to go back to the previous section .... will stop using it and see if it makes a difference.
