Jaunty Jago - Samoyed x GSD (London) Jago3
Jago is a rather handsome Samoyed x German Shepherd boy who is currently in an Oldies Club foster home in south east London. He’s 13 years old, but is still very fit and in good health.

History: Jago has lived in the same home all his life and been very well cared for. His own mother sadly had to be put to sleep late last year and now, due to a change in his owner’s circumstances, he has to find a new home.

Settled in quickly: Jago settled into his foster home more or less straight away. He chose a dog bed and slept through the first night with no fuss at all. His foster mum says he later became a little clingy, but considering that he has lost both his doggie and human family over the last few months, this is to be expected.

Great in the house: Although he was a little clingy to begin with, Jago has behaved impeccably. He’s fine to be left alone for a few hours without any problems, although he does love human company. He’s often to be found lying at his foster mum’s feet. He loves fuss and attention and enjoys being brushed and combed.

Great out on walks: Jago wears a harness when he’s out and about and he walks beautifully. He doesn’t pull and keeps perfect pace. He’s been let off in safe places and doesn’t stray very far, but because he’s a little hard of hearing he doesn’t always respond when you call him. His foster family have found that three sharp claps and an occasional treat as a reward works very well. He’s a fit and healthy boy so is currently walking three miles a day with his foster mum.

Good in the car: Jago is very well behaved in the car. He’s still quite fit so can jump into the back without any problems and he just settles down happily for the journey.

A sociable boy: Jago’s previous owners told us that he’s good with children and whilst he doesn’t currently live with any he often stops in the street to say hello to passers by. Children want to pat and stroke him because he’s such a beautiful dog and he’s always very docile with them. He’s good with other dogs too, but does seem to prefer human company. He hasn’t met any cats, but his previous family tell us that he’ll need a cat-free home.

Jago’s dislikes: Jago hasn’t shown any fear at all whilst in our care, but he is a little needy. This is likely to be due to being separated from his family and we think he will soon settle into his forever home.

Jago’s perfect home: Jago would be happiest in a home where he will receive a lot of attention. He’s a docile and sweet natured boy, but doesn’t like to be alone for a long time. His perfect home would be with someone who is around most of the time and able to give him regular walks. A home worker or someone who works just a few hours a day would be perfect for this lovely fellow.

Jago’s health notes: Jago is a little hard of hearing, but otherwise in very good health. He’s vaccinated, wormed and flea treated. He isn’t neutered because our vet didn’t want to put him through an operation for non-essential castration. However, this does not preclude him from being neutered and Oldies Club would be happy to pay for this if his new owner felt it necessary.
