KIRWAN

**UPDATED: 31st MAY 2013**

Location: Kennels in Norfolk, UK. Kirwan would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family.
Key Points: Super dog!! Friendly, confident, very loving, social, excellent with greyhounds, walks to heel.

Kirwan is a 5 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who is now looking for a lovely family to call his own. Kirwan has been well looked after during his 5 years and it shows in his beautiful coat and super personality. We really hope he doesn’t have to wait too long for his forever home, as a nicer dog you will not meet.

This gorgeous boy was lucky enough to get his portrait taken with Madaboutgreys Photography http://www.madaboutgreys.com/

~ Personality ~
Generally: Fantastically confident & well adjusted. Loving and chipper. A real gent.
Ah, Kirwan is just a delight! He is an incredibly happy gent to sees the best in every single day. Being around him is enough to lift anyone’s spirits. He loves everyone, loves his food, loves walks, loves going in the car, loves other dogs and most importantly, LOVES his cuddles! He struts around with a big smile on his face, happy with whatever he has. Kirwan is going to be such a fabulous family pet, we can’t to see him in a home environment.

~ In the Home ~
Generally: Not yet experienced a home.
Kirwan has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. Considering how happy Kirwan is with his current kennel routine, he’s going to be just over the moon when he gets to experience home comforts and be surrounded by love and cuddles 24/7. He won’t know what to do with himself!

~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Excellent with other greyhounds, not tested with small dogs yet. Confident but not pushy.
Kirwan has been excellent with the other greyhounds in our kennels so far and is a really confident boy. He has been just fabulous with the other dogs he as met so far, and is confident but not pushy or dominant. He is simply extremely comfortable in his own skin, and is definitely interested in the ladies! Kirwan has not been tested yet with smaller dogs but this will be carried out once he has settled more into our kennels. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

~ Out and About ~
Generally: Walks to heel, loves his routine, friendly to everyone, travels very well.
Like most greyhounds, Kirwan is a total couch potato in the making and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are very calm, mannerly dogs that are used to being handled. They can fit into a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly.

~ Where Am I? ~
Kirwan is currently in kennels in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you may be required to travel to our rescue to meet and collect him.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Kirwan is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This dear boy would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Kirwan, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering Kirwan, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html or Fostering Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/Fostering.html .

Thank you.

It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us via the following:
