Maddy ~ Sweet Little Gem - 2yo Black Greyhound
MADDY
**UPDATED: OCTOBER 2012**
Maddy is a gorgeous 2 year old ex-racing girl who, after just 3 races, was already deemed not good enough for the track and was in danger of being put to sleep. Luckily now she has a second chance at things and is going to be such a fabulous family dog.
Maddy is a slender black girl who is 26” to the shoulder but very narrow. She can curl up very small on the sofa! She has a petite little face with ears that can be a bit wild at times, and her black coat is going to be just stunning since she gets a good healthy sheen to it.
~ Personality ~
Maddy is very sweet natured and easy going. She loves people and is always happy to see you. Now that she’s in a foster home, she’s soaking up all the fuss and attention, and it’s obvious that she feels very lucky to be surrounded by people 24/7.
~ In the Home ~
Maddy moved into a foster home just last week, and is settling very well. She is adjusting to the changes and is quickly learning the ‘house rules’. It won’t be long before this girl is super settled in the home, and we will update then with her progress… assuming she hasn’t been snapped up by then!
~ Other Animals ~
Maddy is very good with other dogs of all sizes and really does enjoy their company. When she first moved into her foster home, she learned a huge amount from her foster brother, another greyhound. In the past she has lived amiably with a terrier, and is generally polite at meeting all other dogs when out. She is not suitable to live with cats though.
~ Out and About ~
Maddy is very well behaved when out, and really just has a few areas that need tweaking before she’s a perfect model hound. She can get a bit overexcited if she sees dogs far in the distance and can't get to them quick enough, but this is just her impatience at wanting to say hi to everyone. It will get better with time when she improves a bit on her manners.
In general, Maddy walks like a gem on the lead and travels perfectly in the car. She would be suitable to have offlead in safe areas, away from public roads, once she has settled in to her new home and gotten to know her new parents.
~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly.
~ Where Am I? ~
Maddy is being fostered in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to her in Norfolk to meet/collect her.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Maddy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in adopting Maddy, please visit our website’s Adoption Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html for information and instructions on our homing procedures. If you have any further questions or problems, please feel free to email me (Tam) on tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!
~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~
Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.
Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page:[b/] http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.
If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. I (Tam) can be contacted through the following email:
