Della ~ Lovely Little Lady – 8mo Black Greyhound Pup

DELLA

Meet the beautiful little Della. She is a 7-8 month old greyhound puppy who, along with her brother Dexie, has been lucky enough to escape from the racing world and go straight to looking for a ‘retirement home’. Della has a lovely soft black coat and a delicate little face. She is going to be such a stunner once she fills out.



~ Personality ~
Della is a super little lady who is learning fast about all the things around her. She is incredibly affectionate and loving with everyone and is a constant delight for her fosterers. She loves to play, but also likes to curl up and snuggle with you in the evenings. Della has pucks of potential and we are sure she’s going to be a really super hound for whomever adopts her.



~ Medical Issues ~
Della has unfortunately got a similar congenital issue as her brother Dexie regarding her front legs. Her growth plates in both front lets have not developed fully, giving her slightly misshapen wrists. Della is not as severely affected as her brother, and it poses her absolutely no issues at all. She tears around and races after other dogs without a care in the world. She has been checked by a vet and given the all clear, though may need watching as she approaches her later years for the development of arthritis.



~ In the Home ~
Della is currently living in a foster home and has taken the transition from kennel to sofa in her stride. She has already grasped the concept of housetraining, and asks to go out to toilet. She is clean through the night, though please note that she may have a few initial stress-related accidents when she moves out to her new home.



Della is still just a puppy who has had a very steep learning curve over the last few weeks, but she is doing very well and is just a little darling. Being still just a puppy, Della can still pick up items to chew that might not be designed for puppy teeth. She is gradually learning that not everything around her is a chew toy, and she can be easily redirected to one of her toys if needed.



~ Other Animals ~
Della is sharing her foster home with a host of other animals including 2 lurcher pups, 2 greyhounds, a rottie and a cat. She is super with all of them, and is very dog savvy. We feel she would be happiest in a home with another dog (or three!) to keep her in check and help drain some of her excess puppy energy. She absolutely loves playing with the two other lurcher pups, and we feel it would be a shame if she didn’t have access to a playmate or two in her forever home.



Della is sharing her foster home with a cat, though he is a rather elusive cat, so she does not see him on a daily basis. She has never caused any trouble, however, and we feel she could live happily with a confident cat who won’t be terrified of her approach.

~ Out and About ~
Della loves getting out and exploring the world around her as she has not had many chances to do so before now. She is learning to walk correctly on a lead, and it’s a lot of fun taking her places and showing her new things. She is a social girl who is relatively calm considering her age, and especially loves meeting new dogs.



~ Where Am I? ~
Della is currently being fostered in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to her foster home to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Della is vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

PLEASE NOTE: Della is not yet neutered as she is still a young pup. As such, Kerry Greyhounds UK require that her adopters agree to have her neutered and this will be part of her adoption contract.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.
