Why do I have to keep logging in every day I visit RAFA and it doesn't remember my password Banghead1

And no it hasn't anything to do with cookies cos they have not been deleted.

Do you click the box 'save password'?

Do you reboot your PC every day? I think teh web site remembers your IP address. So if you reboot you probably have a new IP which means signing in again?

It's cookies that they remember and I don't delete my cookies. I just do the same thing I have always done and it has only started asking me for the log in during the last few days. I also am not receiving a lot of my thread notification emails.

This is nothing to do with what I'm doing with my PC, I never change my personal preferences, I never change anything I do and then suddenley it changes ... other people constantly get non notification of emails.

Over the last couple of days, both myself and Nat have noticed 'odd' things arising but the forum seems to have rectified itself.

I was getting email notifications on every thread even though i do not 'watch' them scratch

We also couldn't mass pm volunteers so were forwarding emails instead....

Lets see how it goes over the next few days........

I have a couple of Forumotion forums too and have noticed weird things going on. Some members aren't getting notifications of new threads/posts and I never use 'watch this topic' but I have 'apparently' subscribed to every active topic! I had to change the setting in preferences in my profile, even doing that, I was still subscribed to some.

Also for a few days images weren't being resized... and both forums were having mega sized pics showing. This was sorted out by Forumotion and I think they are aware of the other little gremlins.

Kathy you need to clear cookies, because sometimes they get clogged up & corrupt and when Forumotion do updates, your cookies can mean nothing. It's best to start afresh, clear ALL cookies from your PC/Laptop - it's a pain in the bum to do it, as you have to remember everyone of your logins/passwords.

Last week I downloaded a program called CCleaner as my laptop was running slow and it's like a malware detector too as well as clearing cookies, I couldn't believe how many cookies there were on my laptop - no wonder it was running slow! You can select specific Internet cookies to keep, but I didn't keep any. I am pleased to say, my laptop is back in top gear dancy2

I was subscribed to this thread for 'watch this topic' without doing it myself! I thought Forumotion had that sorted!

Apparently not - because Forumotion are asking people to clear their cookies and cache. They say it is a global problem and everyone should update preferences...

the techs at forumotion have corrected the issue on all servers. In order for it to be corrected on our side is for us to change the profile setting, the cache and cookie is to ensure that there is no confusion between the cookie changes, however not necessary in this particular situation..

Clearing the browsers cache can solve a bunch of display or login-problems. Browsers store the content of a website in their cache, to avoid loading images or other content again the next time you visit this site. This is speeding up your web browsing, but can sometimes lead to "obsolete" pages (when the browser still prefers accessing content from the cache instead of loading updated content). Clearing the cache would force a browser to download the content again to display an up-to-date page.

Below are some instructions on how to clear the cache in Firefox and Internet Explorer. If you are using another browser, search in the help files or browse through the options or settings. If you have some experience with a yet unlisted browser, you are invited to write a short tutorial for it so we could update this thread.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firefox

Two methods are available here, the first one being the most simple and the fastest one to clear your entire cache. Just hit "Ctrl + Shift + Del" on your keyboard. A window will appear that allows you to clear private browser data. One of the options you can select here is "Cache", so be sure you have marked this box before confirming the deletion. This option is also available in the "Tools" tab in your main menu (clear private data). If you have a site opened while doing this, don't forget to refresh it.

The next option is very easy as well, just refresh the page with "Ctrl + F5". This method, however, does not clear the entire cache, but only for the current active page.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Internet Explorer

In the main menu, select "Tools" and then "Internet Options".

Stay on the General-tab and click the button "Delete" in the section "Browsing History" - as seen in the screenshot above. You will now see a list with options to delete private and temporary data. Click the button on the very top - Temporary Internet Files - and confirm the deletion afterwards.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chrome

Below your close button on your browser you will see wrench.

Click the wrench.

Click Options

Click Under the Hood Tab

Click Clear Browsing Data

Make sure you have everything clicked

Once you have everything clicked clear browsing data

Then do this: Go to your forum > Profile > Preferences > Always notify me of replies : NO.... Notify by e-mail when a new message has arrived in my inbox : NO... and SAVE.
