Sheba - Stunning Anatolian Shepherd Sheba

Sheba - 2 years old female Anatolian Shepherd
This absolutely stunning girl is looking for a super home. It is thought she is a pure bred Anatolian Shepherd. A gorgeous big girl, lovely temperament, just slightly nervy around other dogs if loose, but passes them OK on a lead. She really does stride out when walking, loves a cuddle.

Sheba has been vaccinated and microchipped and will be spayed before being rehomed.

Sheba will only be rehomed to someone with experience of big dogs and children over 10 yrs old and a strict homecheck will be made.

beautiful - I used to live in South East Turkey (up in the mountains - nowhere near the sea!) and on the camp we had a sweet local dog - an anatolian shepherd basically named Cato, before she came to the camp and insinuated herselves into our hearts, wherever she had come from had cropped her ears off right against her head (so that wolves couldn't rip them up if they attacked) but strangely her tail hadn't been docked - which was usually done for the same reason - they were used to guard sheep and we'd see them, sans ears & tail, wearing collars with 6" steel spikes all the way around so that wolves couldn't grab their throats.

Cato had escaped such a fate and found that us English and Dutch people were nice and gave her food, so settled to stay. Unfortunately the guards on site, scared about rabies, shot the rest of the dogs that wandered in before the fence was finished, but we begged them to leave Cato as she was friendly, had her vaccinated, and she was free to roam the camp, although she didn't live in the houses with any of us (that was banned), she'd sleep in the gardens, and everyone fed her and petted her - us kids were allowed to play with her and she was ever so gentle Smile

Sorry I can't offer this girlie a home but I just thought I'd point out to people who have been misinformed and scared about anatolian shepherds being "dangerous" etc, as a kid my parents were happy for me to play, unsupervised with an essentially feral one of these with no fear that she'd ever hurt me, or any of the other kids on the camp who played with her - they can be as gentle and loving as a labrador Smile

Do the breed rescue know about her? They may know of a good knowledgeable home for her.

These are still pretty rare dogs in this country and I am sure that her breeder would want to know that she has ended up in rescue.

She definitely looks like a pure bred Anatolian/Karabash from the photo.

She was handed in as a German Shepherd X

I put her on Facebook as that and lots said pure Anatolian. Need to see if she can be traced back further, I will pass this link over to suetGRSB who has her at Moorlands Kennels.

Once told she looked like an Anatolian Shepherd, I did lots of searches on Google and I am pretty much convinced she is purebred even down to the curly tail.

I will be going to the kennels in the morning so will investigate more.

We will have to go by the papers that came in with her.

Being a rescue we can't really mislead someone, that's why I put.... "It is thought she is a pure bred Anatolian Shepherd"
