Madge - Older Staffy lady needs a quiet home

Post by Spike on Sun Jul 17, 2011 7:24 pm

Contact/organisation details: Solo Sanctuary www.solosanctuary.co.uk
Does the animal have rescue back up?: Yes
Location: Nottingham but can be rehomed anywhere
Number of groups: One

Type/Breed/Variety: Staffordshire Bullterrier
Sex: Female
Age(s): 9 +
Name(s): Madge
Colours: Brindle
Neutered: Will be - was in season when came into rescue is due to be speyed in a few weeks
Reason for rehoming: Ex poundie
Temperament: She is fine walking with other dogs but can be a bit snappy if approached head on...but will walk with, walk past and sit with other dogs no problem. Would be best as an only dog in the home. She is not fond of cats. However Madge just looooves her cuddles and will lie in your arms like a baby! She needs a quiet retirement home where any children are in their teens.
Medical problems: None known
Neutering: Animal will be neutered/castrated prior to being rehomed unless for medical reasons. Can this be guaranteed? Yes. Also vaccinated and microchipped.
Will the group be split: N/A
Transport available: Any potential adopter would need to visit Madge at the kennels she is at in Nottingham - but she can be rehomed anywhere if willing to visit her and subject to a home check.

Other: More details and photos of Madge can be seen here http://solosanctuary.co.uk/Madge.aspx
Here she is sitting on her new mattress, with her blanket and chews all sent by one of her sponsors.

Here is the lovely Madge 'in action'!

She had just been a 2 hour walk and was having a fab time off her lead - as I left Madge her kennel 'mom' said to her that she had to go back to her kennel so Madge climbed onto her lap put her front legs round her neck and basically said 'You will have to carry me then - I'm shattered!'...needless to say she was carried... love1

Do you have any Foster/Rehome posters for Madge for people to put up in their area?

thankyou1 Lovely poster ... can everybody please pm Spike for a copy of Madge's poster and put it up in your local vet, pet shop or other appropriate places where scumbags won't see it.

We must try and get Madge either a home or a foster home for Christmas

TracyB (who knows Madge from the kennels) says ...

she is a calm dinky staffy. She wouldnt like another in your face dog but from what Ive seen of her a calm dog would be ok. she walks with other dogs - young and old and doesnt react to them at all- unless they are in her face.

So as long as an appropriate dog is in residence she could be OK with another dog in a foster home after introductions and with people who are experienced with dogs.

Yes I would say that is right Kathy as long as the dog is not 'in her face' she would be okay

Sorry to say it did not go ahead - but the good news is Madge now has a foster home to go to from Oct 27th so she will not have to be in kennels much longer Very Happy

Following further assessment it is felt that with proper introductions Madge could live with a steady, calm male dog.

She has been no trouble walking with any of the dogs at the kennels, she walks past dogs when out without a glance and she has now been off lead with two older steady male Staffies with no issues.
